flower essences - a brief intoduction

Flower essences are prepared by floating flowers and attached leaves and stems on water in sunlight. Whereas herbal medicine makes an extract from the plant material, in the case of flower essences, the plant material is discarded and the water which has been exposed to the flowers is used. It is believed that subtle energy from the flowers moves into the water.

Flower essences were possibly used in ancient cultures but were bought into modern awareness by the pioneering work of Dr. Edward Bach. His 38 Bach flower remedies have a world-wide following. Many persons who have no knowledge of the world of essences nevertheless know about his famous 'Rescue Remedy', which so often avails in time of crisis for humans, animals or even plants.

Flower essences occupied centre stage in the world of essences in the Twentieth Century. Flower essences have been described from all corners of the globe. In particular, here at Advanced Alchemy we like the original Bach Flower Remedies, the Australian Flower Essences and the Alaskan Flower Essences.
